10 Tried and Tested Remedies to Protect from Virus Infection?

India is fighting its battle tough against various types of virus infections. Compare to other nations of the world, the number of positive case is very less in India. Proactive initiatives by Indian Government has helped to achieve this. The lock-down has been extended and is quite effective in most of the places in India. This has resulted in avoiding community spread of corona virus infection. The Ministry of Ayush has issued a directive on home remedies to protect from virus infections.

The government is leaving no stone unturned in its fight against this deadly coronavirus. One of the major initiatives is the launch of Aarogya Setu Mobile App. This is one of the most important tools to track virus infected patients and safeguarding the user by sending an alert message.  Not only this, but the Ministry of Ayush has also issued a directive to the citizen to follow some home remedies to protect from deadly virus infection. PM Modi in all his addresses to the nation has requested citizen to follow these directives and also to install the Aarogya Setu App.

Home Remedies for Virus Infections

To boost immunity and protect from viruses, the Ministry of Ayush has released its directive on easy to follow home remedies.  

1. Drink Lukewarm Water Throughout The Day

Drinking lukewarm water improves blood circulation. Not only this, drinking lukewarm water helps detox the body and cleans all the impurities very easily. To boost body immunity, can take lemon juice with one glass of lukewarm water on an empty stomach. 

2. Practice Yogasanas Everyday

Various pranayamas and yogasanas are very effective in keeping the body strong and increasing immunity. As we all know, immunity plays a very important role in protecting from infectious disease. Hence, the Ministry of Ayush suggests pranayama and yogasanas for 30 minutes every day.

3. Power of Indian Spices 

Spice like turmeric, cumin, coriander and garlic are anti-inflammatory. Due to their anti-viral properties, these spices protect from infection of virus. Hence, the Ministry of Ayush has advised using these spices in daily cooking.

4. One Spoon of Chyawanprash Daily

For a long, Ayurveda has been using chyawanprash as an immunity booster. The main ingredients include Amla, Ashwagandha, Hareetaki, Dashmul, Ghrit and several other herbs and herbal extracts.  Eating one spoon of chyawanprash daily is a good shield from virus infection.

5. Drink Herbal Tea Twice Daily

According to the Ministry of Ayush, herbal tea helps to boost the immunity of our body. As we know, a strong immune system protects us from diseases occurring during the changing seasons. Not only this, but it also helps in preventing respiratory diseases. To prepare a herbal tea, one can use a hot decoction of basil, cinnamon, black pepper, dry ginger and dry grapes. This should be consumed once or twice a day. To make it tastier, one can add jaggery or lemon juice as per the need. 

6. Milk with Turmeric (Golden Milk)

As we know, turmeric has antibiotic properties, while milk has a calcium presence. In a mixture of these two, the properties of turmeric milk increase even more. In its directive, the Ministry of Ayush suggests taking half a teaspoon of turmeric powder in 150 ml warm milk once or twice a day.

7. Perform Naysa daily

In its directive, the Ministry of Ayush suggests applying one drop of either cow ghee or sesame oil or coconut oil in both the nasal cavities. This should be done twice daily. In Ayurveda, this process is called Naysa. This process increases the blood circulation in the brain by ensuring a balanced exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. 

8. Oil Pulling Therapy

Take one spoon of sesame or coconut oil in the mouth. Do not drink it, but in the mouth for 2 to 3 minutes and then spit it out. After that rinse with warm water. This can be done once or twice a day.

9. Mint leaf and celery steam

People having a sore throat or dry cough should take steam of hot water mixed with fresh mint leaves and celery. According to the Ministry, this should be performed once a day.  

10. Clove powder with Honey or Jaggery 

During a burning sensation in the throat, the Ministry advises eating clove powder mixed with jaggery or honey. This should be taken 2-3 times a day.

According to the Ministry’s guideline, these remedies usually cure common dry cough and sore throat. However, if these symptoms persist, it is better to consult a doctor.
